I like to read and learn everything I can to build my knowledge on social technology. One of the most forward thinking authors I have encountered is Chris Brogan who co-authored Trust Agents, Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust with Julien Smith. Their philosophy of building trust and influence on line creating value is a good reminder that we need to be a trusted community member as much on line as face to face. One of the best video bloggers I found is Gary Vaynerchuk who wrote Crush It. Gary has an over the top intense personality and passion that you either are offended by or impressed with. Personally I am impressed with his passion. When it comes to micro blogging I’ve learned from the person who started me on Twitter Gini Dietrich, CEO Arment Dietrich. She set me in the right direction with connections and tips on how to use Twitter. I have built strong relationships and met amazing individuals. My newest Twitter friends and individuals I learn from daily are BJ Emerson, Social Technology Officer for TastiDlite and Ken Colburn, CEO Data Doctor.
Building visibility online consists of engaging, connecting, communicating and interacting with on line friends and communities. Social media should not replace engaging IRL (in real life).
